Trophies awarded at the Spring Bulb Show:

  1. Herbert Bannister Cup: Best vase of Daffodils/Narcissi ni classes 1-3.
  2. Bob Webb Cup: Best vase of Daffodils/Narcissi in the show.
  3. Crosby Cook Trophy: Best exhibit of cut spring flowers (class 20).
  4. Winter Trophy: Best petite arrangement of flowers grown in the exhibitor’s garden (class 27).
  5. Taylor Trophy: Highest number of points in the handicraft classes.
  6. Martha’s Kettle: Best bake in Section C.

*First prize = 5 points, second prize = 3 points, third prize = 1 point.

  2. Vase of 5 large-cupped Daffodils, any colour

  5. Vase of 5 Cyclamineus (reflexed perianth) Daffodils, any colour
  6. Vase of 5 miniature / dwarf Daffodils
  7. Vase of 5 Daffodils of any other type
  8. Vase of 5 Daffodils, mixed types

  9. A vase of 5 Tulips
  10. A pot of Hyacinths, any variety, any number of bulbs

Flowers used in these classes may be bought by the exhibitor.

  1. An ‘Easter Tree’, made of decorated branches (max width 75cm/2½ ft.)
  2. An arrangement in a teapot for a kitchen table (max width 45cm/ 1½ ft.)
  3. A bridesmaid’s posy (max width 45cm/1½ ft.)
  4. A petite arrangement in an egg cup using flowers from the exhibitor’s garden (H, D and W between 10cm/4” and 23 cm/9”)

  1. 4 ciabatta bread rolls
  2. A many-layered cake
  3. 6 mini sausage rolls
  4. 6 vegan fairy cakes
  1. A book mark
  2. A handmade hat inspired by spring flowers
  3. Wall art created from handmade pom poms
  4. A painted egg shell
  5. A photograph ‘Reflections in water.’
  6. A page of small lamb studies, drawn from life

6 years and under at the time of the Spring Show

  1. A pot of tête-a-tête narcissi bulbs grown by you
  2. An egg box creature

7 – 11 years old at the time of the Spring Show

  1. A pot of tête-a-tête narcissi bulbs grown by you
  2. A vase of paper flowers

To submit an entry into the Show:

Choose the classes you wish to enter from the membership Show Schedule booklet. Entries are open to all DHS members, who can enter any number of classes.

  1. Cut out one of the forms from the back page of your Show Schedule booklet;
  2. Complete it with your details and your entries;
  3. Put it in an envelope with your entry fee (20p per entry).
  4. Hand it in at Ditchling Post Office no later than 5 p.m. on the Wednesday preceding the show. No late entries will be accepted.
