Rules of Membership
The Society Rules of Membership
- The name of the Society shall be Ditchling Horticultural Society (DHS)
- The object of the Society is to further the general interest of horticulture, including the organization of Annual Shows and the management of the Ditchling allotments
- Residents of Ditchling, Westmeston, Streat and those in close ties to or working in Ditchling are eligible for membership
- The annual subscription (payable on 1st January) is £5 for single membership and £8 for a couple living in the same property.
- The financial year of the Society ends on the 30th September
- The general meeting of members will be annually as soon as practicable after 30th September
- One or more auditors shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- At the AGM there shall be elected not more than 15 members who shall form a Committee which will be responsible for the affairs of the Society except as may be otherwise provided in the rules.
- The Committee shall have the power to elect other officers from its members and to co-opt providing that the number does not exceed 15
- Officers appointed as Interim Officers between AGMs should be agreed by a quorum of a minimum of 8 DHS Committee members at a committee meeting
- Online banking shall be undertaken by the Treasurer who will provide quarterly banking updates to the Committee members. All Expenses to be reviewed and agreed by two Committee members (the Treasurer and either the Chairman or the Secretary) prior to payment”.
- The Rules of the Society shall not be altered except at a meeting of the members of which not less than 14 days’ notice of the proposed alteration shall be given to all members. At such meeting, 12 members present shall form a quorum
