Rules of Membership
The Society Rules of Membership
- The name of the Society shall be Ditchling Horticultural Society (DHS)
- The object of the Society is to further the general interest of horticulture, including the organization of Annual Shows
- Residents of Ditchling, Westmeston, Streat and those in close ties to or working in Ditchling are eligible for membership
- The annual subscription (payable on 1st January) is £5 for single membership and £8 for a couple living in the same property.
- The financial year of the Society ends on the 30th September
- The general meeting of members will be annually as soon as practicable after 30th September
- One or more auditors shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- President and Vice Presidents will be elected at the AGM
- At the AGM there shall be elected a Chairman, a Vice Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Show Secretary and not more than 10 members who, together with the said 5 Officers shall form a Committee which will be responsible for the affairs of the Society except as may be otherwise provided in the rules.
- The Committee shall have the power to elect other officers from it’s members and to co-opt, providing that the number does not exceed 15.
- All cheques on the Society’s bank account small be signed by two signatories. The Treasurer and The Secretary.
- The Rules of the Society shall not be altered except at a meeting of the members of which not less than 14 days’ notice of the proposed alteration shall be given to all members. At such meeting, 12 members present shall form a quorum
